Wheel of life is a great exercise and an amazing self-assessment tool to help you better examine each area of your life and assess what is off balance and identify areas that need more attention. This technique is used widely in life coaching. It is also a great starting point to goals setting and reviewing your priorities.

How do you use Wheel of Life

The purpose of Wheel of Life is to identify how you are currently dividing your time between different things and how happy and satisfied you are in the those spheres of your life. Ideally we would like to have a balance between different areas of our life but it is not always a case. So many of us spends too much time at work and there is not enough time left for family pleasures or simply me-time, etc.

Power of daily rituals. Why we need habits?

In this post I will focus on a power of daily habits, the rituals we all have. Some of them are good and they can help us to become big achievers, some are not and they can really slow down or even completely stop our chance of success. Habits can either benefit or hurt the goals a person sets for themselves.

What is habit?

Based on Wikipedia : “A habit (or wont) is a routine of behavior that is repeated regularly and tends to occur subconsciously. In the American Journal of Psychology (1903) it is defined in this way: “A habit, from the standpoint of psychology, is a more or less fixed way of thinking, willing, or feeling acquired through previous repetition of a mental experience. Habitual behavior often goes unnoticed in persons exhibiting it, because a person does not need to engage in self-analysis when undertaking routine tasks. Habits are sometimes compulsory. The process by which new behaviours become automatic is habit formation. Old habits are hard to break and new habits are hard to form because the behavioural patterns we repeat are imprinted in our neural pathways, but it is possible to form new habits through repetition.”

Happy International Day of Yoga!

Did you know that today we celebrate second International Day of Yoga? On December 11 in 2014, the United Nations General Assembly declared June 21st as the International Day of Yoga. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his address to UN General Assembly on 27th September 2014 stated: “Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition . It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature. ”  June 21, which is the Summer Solstice, was specially chosen for the International Day of Yoga, because of it’s meaning. Mr. Narendra Modi had said that, “the date is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and has special significance in many parts of the world. ”

images (3)Everything happens for a reason! I truly believe in this phrase. I know, I know…- some of you will say it is easier to say than to really believe and live by that, but I really do. Things happen in our lives; things that we not always agree with or don’t understand the true meaning at the time. It is hard to get our head around it, we search for “why” but sometimes one door needs to close so the other opens for us. I went through it few times… I know what I’m talking about. You feel like the world it ending and everything is against you, but in the reality you came to the end of the path and are at the crosswords where the new path starts. Sometimes we are too comfortable in the present situation, even when it is not ideal for us, and don’t want changes as they are disturbing our comfortable stagnation. How many times you complained about something but didn’t really do anything about it?!

One of my favourite phrases and my life motto is Henry Thoreau’s   “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.” We much too often only dream instead of make our dreams our reality.

Is it a fear of failure? Laziness? Lack of trust in our abilities?

For sure it doesn’t just come to us or nobody serves it to us on a silver platter- it requires work, hard work and some sacrifices.
