Books are amazing! You don’t need much to escape the world around and discover new knowledge, visit fascinating places or be somebody else for a while. There is a different world between paper pages (or clicks of a book reader 😉) which can be yours when you allow yourself to submerge in the story. There is a whole new world at your hands, the incredible world of books and reading!
Today I remember and honour Louise Hay who passed away yesterday at age 90. Bestselling author, speaker, inspirational teacher, founder of Hay House Publishers, Louise was also known for her healing techniques, affirmations and positive thinking. She was a great promoter of connection between the mind and body and its impact on our health and wellness. Despite her very difficult beginnings (poverty, physical and sexual abuse) and challenges in life, she showed extreme strength and resilience and became amazing advocate for positive thinking and life affirmations! Incredible!
Have you noticed that our working days get longer and longer? There is always something to fix, work to do, countless deadlines and urgent last-minute jobs. We work harder, spend more time at our workplaces, less with our family and doing our hobbies, then going home checking our work emails and bringing all this stress home. We need a break! And it doesn’t need to be a big holiday break (although I wouldn’t mind it 😉 ) but even few small breaks which would cut a working day in few manageable chunks. In this post, I would like to explain why you need these breaks.
Taking a break is very important for our health and well-being. It takes our mind away from everyday stress, refreshes us and let our brain to process the information we were bombarded by for the whole day. So put your feet up and relax. Forget for a moment about the world around and just take few deep breaths. In… and out… and again… Ahhhh……
When did you last time give yourself a break? You should do it on regular basis.
Happy International Women’s Day!
To me, my daughter, my mum, sister, friends and all women close and far 🙂 Let’s celebrate every woman- appreciate them, love them, celebrate them, acknowledge them and treat them well! In still not perfect world, let’s make a wave of change, big bold change and help us become more equal society- where woman has same right and opportunities in life!
My favourite poems to celebrate women
8th of March is celebrated all over the world as an International Women’s Day. It’s a day when we celebrate women, their social, economic, cultural and political achievements and also it’s a great opportunity to talk about gender equality. International Women’s Day has been celebrated since the early 1900’s and still is very popular in many countries. It’s a perfect time to bring attention to every woman in your life and outside your inner circle to observe and honor their qualities, accomplishments, sacrifices, successes and challenges. This year I decided to join in celebration by taking part in Be Bold For Change campaign (#BeBoldForChange) run by International Women’s Day website.
The idea behind the campaign is simple- celebrate by being bold in taking action, in their words- “For International Women’s Day 2017, we’re asking you to #BeBoldForChange. Call on the masses or call on yourself to help forge a better working world- a more inclusive, gender equal world”.
Sometimes you need a trigger to make a change – you need this last straw that will push you to action. It could be a particular event, book which you read recently, a song or maybe a talk with a good friend. Everyone is different and different things will motivate you to change. To get you started on the positive way to introduce change in your life, I put together a list of top quotes about change. I hope it will inspire you 🙂 Enjoy! It’s a time for a change!
Here you are- my favourite top quotes about change 🙂
- “Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them; that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.” – Lao Tzu
- “For what it’s worth: it’s never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find that you’re not, I hope you have the courage to start all over again.”- Eric Roth, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button Screenplay
