In my previous post,  Fixed vs growth mindset,  I talked about different types of mindset and why you would like to have a growth mindset. In Carol S. Dweck’s book called ” Mindset: The New Psychology of Success” she explains that while a “fixed mindset” accepts our character, intelligence, and creativity as static features which we cannot change in any way, a growth mindset loves challenge and can see failure as a lesson and opportunity to grow. The question is- how to do it? How to find a way to develop growth mindset? Every one of us has a mindset, the set of established beliefs and attitudes which makes you who you are. It can be a good mindset or one that holds you back. In this post I will explain what mindset actually is and what is the difference between fixed and growth mindset.

This phenomenon is also sometimes described as mental inertia, “groupthink”, or a “paradigm”, and it is often difficult to counteract its effects upon analysis and decision making processes.”

Are you still into it? Generally straight after you generate new idea you are motivated and full of energy to keep it going but soon the feeling wears off and you left without your initial enthusiasm. Motivation can come from your outside word in a form of e.g  money, grades, career or praise. Self motivation though is a feeling that comes from within you. It can be sparked by your sense of achievement, curiosity, interest or pride. It is a voice in your head whispering “you can do it”!

Easy access and portability of computers, tablets, e-readers and smartphones lead to traditional books being partly replaced by electronic versions on your devices.

Benefits of reading books- why should you read every day

Today I wanted to look closely at the benefits of reading books and why we should read every day.

My parents love to read so I grew up in a house full of books. Since I remember, the books were always around the house and reading was encouraged from my early childhood. I still remember how excited I was when I got my first night lamp clamped to my bunk bed and was allowed to read longer in the evening. Many times I ended up reading long late evening hours just to finish an exciting book 🙂

Now it is my turn and I’m introducing my kids to the world of reading. Any occasions I have, I try to sneak a book for them, every birthday or Christmas present will include it. My daughter started to enjoy it now, my son is still in the stage of learning how to read but he is very excited at the thought he soon will be able to read any book. I cannot wait to see them love reading books like me! I hope they will catch my reading bug 🙂

Day to celebrate women – Happy International Women’s Day

Today, 8th of March, is an International Womens day and I would like to bring your attention to every woman in your life. Your mother, sister, girlfriend, wife… It is a day to celebrate them! Well… it should not be just one day in a year…  Celebrate them every day, but make today special 🙂

We, as a society, can appreciate all the effort and hard work they put in place to be seen, heard and be important. Unfortunately despite all the effort there are still some societies which are behind and women are not treated the way they should be and they are not recognised as equal to men. It is very sad reality and I hope that one day it is only going to be a bad dream from the past.

Another very sad issue is violence against women. It is an issue which is kept rather quiet, people are uncomfortable to talk about and there is a lot of blame put on women. We need to change it and break the silence!!!! Violence in general is wrong! Violence against women is terrible! We need to teach our next generation love not violence! Teach them how to treat woman, appreciate them and celebrate!
