Power of daily rituals. Why we need habits?

In this post I will focus on a power of daily habits, the rituals we all have. Some of them are good and they can help us to become big achievers, some are not and they can really slow down or even completely stop our chance of success. Habits can either benefit or hurt the goals a person sets for themselves.

What is habit?

Based on Wikipedia : “A habit (or wont) is a routine of behavior that is repeated regularly and tends to occur subconsciously. In the American Journal of Psychology (1903) it is defined in this way: “A habit, from the standpoint of psychology, is a more or less fixed way of thinking, willing, or feeling acquired through previous repetition of a mental experience. Habitual behavior often goes unnoticed in persons exhibiting it, because a person does not need to engage in self-analysis when undertaking routine tasks. Habits are sometimes compulsory. The process by which new behaviours become automatic is habit formation. Old habits are hard to break and new habits are hard to form because the behavioural patterns we repeat are imprinted in our neural pathways, but it is possible to form new habits through repetition.”

How to change your mindset – How books can change your life and help you grow as a person

In my previous post,  Fixed vs growth mindset,  I talked about different types of mindset and why you would like to have a growth mindset. In Carol S. Dweck’s book called ” Mindset: The New Psychology of Success” she explains that while a “fixed mindset” accepts our character, intelligence, and creativity as static features which we cannot change in any way, a growth mindset loves challenge and can see failure as a lesson and opportunity to grow. The question is- how to do it? How to find a way to develop growth mindset? Fixed vs growth mindset

Every one of us has a mindset, the set of established beliefs and attitudes which makes you who you are. It can be a good mindset or one that holds you back. In this post I will explain what mindset actually is and what is the difference between fixed and growth mindset.

What is a mindset?

download (2)Based on the definition in Wikipedia- “a mindset is a set of assumptions, methods, or notations held by one or more people or groups of people that is so established that it creates a powerful incentive within these people or groups to continue to adopt or accept prior behaviours, choices, or tools. This phenomenon is also sometimes described as mental inertia, “groupthink”, or a “paradigm”, and it is often difficult to counteract its effects upon analysis and decision making processes.”
