Is it a time for a change

Whatever we do in our life, whatever we have or want to have, depends on our urge to change. Sometimes it is just a small change, another time it requires big adjustments. Change is an essential part of our personal development and progress. Is it a time for a change for you?

Change is inevitable. Change is constant.” Benjamin Disraeli

Long time ego, there was a time in my life, when I believed that a change is something weak, that people change and “jump from flower to flower” because they cannot appreciate what they have. I felt that when you choose something, you have to stick with it. You have to work hard to keep it going and if you want to change things this means that you give up. I don’t think like this anymore! Now, being wiser and more experienced, I understand that you cannot stay in one moment forever. Life, you and people around change all the time. Little by little we become bit different then we were yesterday. We learn new skills, discover new passions, meet new people with different views on life- these all help us seeing world in a changed light.

If we don’t change, we don’t grow. If we don’t grow, we aren’t really living.” Gail Sheehy

Change, change, change…

It is all part of our journey. Personal development in action. We cannot stop the progress and just say that we are not interested. If you want it or not, it is inevitable. It is only an illusion that we stay the same. It’s impossible! But why would you like to stay the same if everything else around is evolving?! There is a true power in a change! As long as we make peace with it and embrace this power, it can be a beginning of something big!

So have a moment to yourself and think about your life. In your mind, go through all areas that are important for you and try to asses if any of them need changes. You will notice that some of them will probably need tiny adjustments and small developments, although some others need more radical modifications.

Think about your family life, work, health, friends, personal growth, money, romantic relationship…

Questions to ask yourself

The best way of assessment is asking yourself some questions that will provoke your thoughts and push you to have a deeper reflection about your way of living, your life choices and your directions. Below I wrote few questions that you could start from. But don’t stop at them. Start your brainstorming. Remember that good questions will bring answers.

  •  Are you happy and fulfilled in all areas of your life? Which area needs your attention most? (check also my post on Wheel of Life exercise)
  • Do you feel like you missing on something? What do you think it is? What change would make it better?
  • Do you sometimes think that you could do more but… you don’t do anything about it because… (fill in with your excuse)? What stops you to make a change?
  • What do you want for yourself? What can you learn and change?
  • What assumptions are you making? What are the facts?
  • What’s possible to do now? What are your choices?
  • What are the best steps forward?
