Why not to live your dream life now? Make it your reality!
One of my favourite phrases and my life motto is Henry Thoreau’s “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.” We much too often only dream instead of make our dreams our reality.
Is it a fear of failure? Laziness? Lack of trust in our abilities?
Why not to live your dream life now?
For sure it doesn’t just come to us or nobody serves it to us on a silver platter- it requires work, hard work and some sacrifices.
So many of us just complain and sadly live their unsatisfying life believing that living a dream is only deserved for chosen ones. But why? We all start the same. As children we have our big dreams, things we want to achieve, we believe we can reach the stars but in time we learn to be more cautious, we see obstacles, people teach us to grow up and stop dreaming. “Real life”, duties, jobs- we lose our naive and free thinking, but with it our dreams as well.
Grow up but don’t lose your dreams! Choose your dream life and stick to it! It will require work but it will be worth it!
All change is from the inner to the outer. All change begins in the self-concept. You must become the person you want to be on the inside before you see the appearance of this person on the outside.” – Brian Tracy in “Maximum Achievement: Strategies and Skills That Will Unlock Your Hidden Powers to Succeed”
Ask yourself a question- Are you happy in your life now?
If you are- Congratulations! You are a lucky one!!!
If not- Why not to change it? Are you ready for a change in your life?
If you decide to open yourself to the second option, you will notice that you will change inside. The moment you realize what you want in life and consciously make a decision about this change, you will become a different person. It requires work on your attitude, mindset and some discipline but you can do it!!! Your personal development journey starts there. You will notice that when you wake up from your “hibernation” you cannot go back to who you were. You will become better, more aware and more successful person. You will discover things about yourself that were deeply hidden- new skills, qualities, achievements. Almost as a by-product, will come money, job satisfaction, happiness etc.
What are your dreams? What does success mean to you?
To become who you want to be and achieve your goals you could use some practical help by following simple steps which proved to be useful for others.
Helpful tips for success planing
In my previous posts I already talked about first steps to success. If you haven’t read them yet- I would recommend you to click on the below links
There are some other important steps which I would like to talk about today.
- Set a Deadline
It is a very important step. Adding a deadline to your goal will change it from wishful thinking to true commitment on your part. This is what make your dream/goal real and sets you on the right way to achieve it. By setting the deadline you can also more efficiently plan your next steps.
2. Take Action. Do not try. Just do it.
Just do it. Plan your next steps but don’t spend too much time on it. There is no sense to over-think and over-plan your actions. Just start and things will slowly fall in place. I doesn’t need to be perfect straight away, you can adjust your actions on the go.
3. Do Something Every Day
Everyday actions are important as they build the habit and discipline. It takes at least 3 weeks to establish a new habit that keeps you going in a long run.
4. Time management
Don’t waste your time, it is your most valuable resource. Get organized, schedule things, prioritize. Learn to manage your time efficiently and wisely. Work smarter, not longer. Take control of your day, make a to-do-list to help you better organize yourself. “Nothing is particularly hard if you divide it into small jobs.”- Henry Ford
5. Determine your peak performance hours.
What is a best time for you? Have you noticed that you are the most productive at certain time of the day? Find your individual peak performance hours and use it in your advantage.
6. Avoid interruptions
Don’t waste your time for unnecessary things. Interruptions, especially during your peak performance hours are taking your valuable time away from your project. Focus and use your time efficiently. Don’t use excuses!
7. Keep personal time separate from business time
Make sure you keep your work/life balance right. Give your full attention to work during your business hours but don’t forget to spend a quality time with family and friends. Divide your time right.
8. Take risk
“Taking risks to create the life you want is an act of trust. It means believing in your ability to create a new reality while you are in the process of creating it.”
― Gina Greenlee ” Cheaper Than Therapy: How To Take Risks to Create The Life You Want”
9. Never stop learning
Learn, grow, experience!!! Your life is full of lessons from people you can observe, your trials and errors and everyday experiences! Take the most of it and use it for your benefit. Read books- they are a most amazing source of information.
Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind young.”- Henry Ford
10. Network
Interact with others to exchange information and develop professional contacts. You can learn a lot from others. Keep close with like-minded people. Surround yourself with ones who bring positive value to your life.
And remember, whatever happens stay positive! Your thoughts and attitude build your future!
Your thoughts, vividly imagined and repeated, charged with emotion, become your reality.”
― Brian Tracy, Maximum Achievement: Strategies and Skills that Will Unlock Your Hidden Powers to Succeed

Excellent article. Very informative and very useful information. Much of this I can apply to my goals.
Thanks for your comment Jim! I’m glad you found it useful 🙂 Good luck with your goals!
Elektkra. Good stuff. All of it. I think it starts with goal setting (including deadlines) and to begin living the life you want to live.
I learned a lot of what you’re talking about from a cassette tape program (I’m old) “Lead The Field” by Earl Nightengale.
And you know what I achieved? Beginning in 1989 I started listening to his program. I don’t know how many times I listened. Maybe 100. I don’t know.
I was making $7.56/hr (USD). I had an Associate’s degree by the December 1989. By August 1990 I had a house. By August 1993 I had a Bachelor’s degree and enrolled in Law School. But December 1995 I had my JD (law degree) and I passed the bar examination in March 1996. So in 6 years I was able to get a 2 year degree, which I rolled into a 4 year degree followed by an additional 3 year degree, then a professional license. All that starting from a (virtual) minium wage job.
When I got my Bachelor’s degree I was debt free (from student loans, although I had a mortgage on my house to pay off). When I graduated from Law School I was in debt about $45,000.00. I paid that off in about 11 years. And a few years later I owned my house free and clear. And I didn’t make that much money as an attorney.
I quite practicing law because I figured out that I hated it. Now I am re defining myself again. I am now a writer and an audio/video producer (blogger). I am not particularly good at either one…yet. But I’m living the life. I think I will be able to improve.
Thanks for the post and reminding me of what it takes to be satisfied and to move forward all at the same time.

Elektra,
What a great post! Very inspiring and full of practical step-by-step instructions!
First, I loved the opening quote by Thoreau. I honestly believe that “what you become” is our major goal in life; while many others (including friends and relatives!) believe it is what you acquire, especially in the form of money. Now, I like having money too! Because it allows me to become who I want to be!
But your post inspires me not to let a LACK of funds stop me from becoming who I want to be.
And your 10 steps offer just the type of instruction to make that possible.
So thank you for the awesome inspiration! Keep up the great work!
Thanks Roger! Appreciate your kind comment! I’m very happy you found my post useful and inspirational 🙂
the Post you speak about Change the walk of life very interestingly to set our goals in life and walk towards to achieve Very nice and simple Post
Thanks athar! I’m glad you liked it!
Thank you for sharing this, I loved the first picture about success, it is so true! Your tips also made me think of what works for me. I already know my peak performance hours are after 8 pm, it is when no one can interrupt because they are sleeping and I definitely get a lot of things done at night. I can stay up till 3 or 4 in the morning, the only problem I have is that a day only has 24 hours. I also want to use daylight for doing fun stuff outside and that means a little lack of sleep plus everyone think I am lazy when I get up at 10 am 🙂
Appreciate your comment Eva! Realizing your most productive hours is really beneficial for your performance. Use them wisely 🙂
Hi, Elektra!
Thank your for your sharing. I agree everything you write on this blog post. I am not happy in my life now, so I am making some changes. The mentioned steps on your post are what I am doing right now, such as waking up 0430 am every day to work because I can work more productive during the early morning. I will read your other blog posts when I am free. Because I find your blog is very inspiring and useful.
Thanks Anthony, I’m glad you found my website inspiring 🙂
